Brother Lt. Gen. Dennis L. Via Promoted to Four-Star General

Army Lt. Gen. Dennis L. Via, a native of Henry County, was promoted to four-star general Tuesday. Later that day, he took over command of Army Materiel Command, known as AMC. Both ceremonies and a reception took place at Redstone Arsenal in the Huntsville, Ala., area, according to Curtis Millner. Millner, who represents the Iriswood District on the Henry County School Board, said he has been friends with Via for 32 years. At the ceremonies, officials said Via is one of only 10 four-star generals in the Army and is the second four-star general to graduate from the Virginia State University ROTC program, Millner said.

Philadelphia, PA, August 26, 2011 -William “Randy” Bates, Jr., Esq., the Grand Polemarch (President and  CEO) of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., announced today that all members of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity are urged to join in prayer for the victims and persons affected by the ravages of Hurricane Irene. According to Bates, “Our Province officials are alerted to assist all fraternity members and their constituents as may be required as they seek relief as a result of this catastrophic event. Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity has members in every jurisdiction that has been affected by the stonn. We will continue to monitor the situation from the Caribbean to the Northeast corridor, praying as individuals and in corporate settings. May God bless all families affected.”

Eastern Province Polemarch Issues State of Emergency

Brothers of the Eastern Province, I hope all is well. I am issuing a State of Emergency throughout the Province! All Brothers that will be affected by the upcoming weather event should take every necessary precaution as the region braces itself for Hurricane Irene.  If you are due to have any official (Kappa) business this weekend please postpone or cancel the event.  We do not want our Brothers, our families and the public at large trying to attend an event for Kappa Alpha Psi. Take nothing for granted and stay indoors.
I wish you and your family a safe weekend and please let us know if something occurs where the Brothers may need to assist.
Gratitude!
We are a Fraternity, One Kappa, One (Eastern) Province!
