A Message From The Grand Polemarch…

First 100 Days

Today marks the arrival of the “First 100 Days” of the 31st Administration. I am writing on behalf of the officers and members of the Grand Board of Directors to say thank you and ask that you support this year’s fraternal theme: “Creating Inspiration: A Call to Service.” The fraternal theme is designed to operate as a road map to keep each of us focused on the concept of serving others.

The “Kappa Commitment” which was circulate at the Conclave and is posted on the Kappa Website is our promise to you. It includes targeted enhancements in the areas of policy, undergraduate development, operational management, financial management and communications. These five areas are performance measures for this administration. They are the areas we will use to measure the systems we have in place and performance of these systems against the fraternity’s prior activities and successes as we grow our capacity.

There are a few things we will be calling upon our provinces and chapters to participate in over the next several months. The first is our National Sunday of Hope. During the month of January 2008 we will raise money for St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital. Your church of worship should be contacted by you to participate in an offering for this worthwhile cause. The second event is our National Founders’ Day scheduled for January 5, 2008 in Los Angeles, CA. We are encouraging each chapter of the fraternity to consider sending a representative to this event. Finally, our Greeks Learning to Avoid Debt and CARE Programs are scheduled for more than 100 college campuses. More information is forthcoming in the next few days on these events.

We are excited about where we are today and where we expect to be at the close of our tenure. With your help, talent and ideas, we will make a positive difference in all that we do. In an effort to celebrate the “First 100 Days” we are asking our Provinces, chapters and individual members to do the following before the close of your 2008 Province Council:

1. Every Province reclaim 100 men;
2. Every member of the fraternity donate $100.00 to the Kappa Foundation; and,
3. Every chapter in the fraternity log in 100 hours of community service in the areas of reading, math and science with young people in our communities.

Thank you for your encouragement during our “First 100 Days.” We will know the measure of our achievements when our work meets the intersection of our promises.
