Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Announces Future Leaders to
Participate in Community Service Project During Undergraduate Leadership Institute Conference
(Philadelphia, PA) – June 5th, 2008—Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. announces that Brothers at its annual Undergraduate Leadership Institute (ULI) Conference will participate in a community service project with Women of Gilgal, Inc.
Women of Gilgal is a spiritually founded non-profit organization, which focuses on the uplifting of women distressed by social issues such as homelessness, drug abuse and domestic violence and provides them with transitional housing and educational tools to assist them in improving their lives.
“It is important for our members to be actively involved in the community,” Brother André G. Early, Director of the Undergraduate Leadership Institute said, “and this is a unique partnership that will be as rewarding for our Brothers as the women they will assist.”
ULI registrants will spend part of the conference on Thursday, June 12th at the Women of Gilgal project offices starting at 11am EST. The entire event is being called “Kappa Alpha Psi Volunteer Day.”
The ULI uses the objectives of the fraternity, with the promotion of the spiritual welfare of its members being chief among them. This event will serve to keep that idea at the forefront of the conference’s participants minds.
“You cannot say you are a leader,” Brother Early said, “if you can’t give back to those you wish to inspire.”
