October Communication from the Office of the Eastern Province Polemarch

Dear Brothers:
I hope all is well with you and your family. As we prepare to start the 2007-2008 fiscal year, I look forward to working with you to “Create Inspiration” in our families, our schools, and our communities. Listed below are several items that require your immediate attention. Please share them with your chapters.

Eastern Province WEBSITE
Thanks to brothers Chris Hill and Emanuel Arnold for their outstanding efforts in getting the website up and running. The website is still a work in progress.  The site is to be a communication tool for all chapters to post chapter events and other information that is of importance to the Province.  A Members Section is forthcoming to house the forms and other information that we would like to distribute to members only.  Right now, all articles posted to the site are authorized by the Province Polemarch.  Please feel free to send “all” information and articles to Brothers Hill and Arnold.  Please keep in mind that all information will be reviewed before posting.

CHAPTER CERTIFICATION
The 2007-2008 Chapter Certification is in progress. Your Regional Board Member should be setting certification dates.  Special sessions will be accommodated. As all chapter Polemarchs should know, all chapters must be certified by Province Council in order to participate in intake. All chapters participating in Spring 2008 intake should have been certified by the 2007 Province Council.

MEMBERSHIP INTAKE
The Fall 2007 MOIP is scheduled for November 8-9, 2007 in Petersburg, VA at the Virginia State University. The MOIP Team will provide more information to the chapters that are eligible to participate in the MOIP. NATIONAL FOUNDERS DAY
The National Founders Day is scheduled for Saturday, January 5, 2008 in Los Angeles, CA. It is the Grand Polemarch’s desire that each chapter sends at least one person to this event. The Grand Polemarch is asking as many Chapters as possible to coordinate individual celebrations being sensitive to the date of our national celebrations, hoping many Brothers will choose to attend. To reserve a seat for the event and for further details, please contact Ms. Kimberly Billups-Tolbert at International Headquarters (215.228.7184, ext 126).

ST. JUDE – SUNDAY OF HOPE
Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity has committed to raise $500,000 in five years to donate to St. Jude Hospital. To achieve this goal, St. Jude Hospital and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity have created a program call Sunday of Hope. On one Sunday in January, Kappa members will attend and ask for a “love offering” for St. Jude from their church. This program is designed to be implemented in churches across the country. Each alumni chapter is asked to secure at least one church to participate in the Sunday of Hope program in January. The goal for each church secured is to raise at least $1,000. Later this month, the Eastern Province Sunday of Hope Chairperson Neil Hudgins, Chesapeake Va Beach Alumni will provide chapters more information on this project. I am requesting that brothers begin preliminary discussions with your Church Pastors to determine if your church would be a participating in this project. Let’s help Kappa keep it’s commitment to the St. Jude Hospital. For more information, contact Brother Neil Hudgins at .

St. Jude—2nd Annual Golf Tournament
The St. Jude 2nd Annual Golf Tournament will be held Friday, November 2, 2007 in Fredericksburg, VA. At the Gauntlet Golf Course. Best ball format.  Brothers, I have asked each chapter to send a team or support the birdie support class.  For information, please contact Neil Hudgins at and Tommy Walker @
