Grand Polemarch Continues Listening Tours

Grand Polemarch Continues Listening Tours by Encouraging Continued National Service Commitment throughout the Summer

(Philadelphia, PA) June 19, 2008 – The 31st Grand Polemarch, Dwayne M. Murray announced two new stops on his ground-breaking “Listening Tour.” While praising Chapters of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. for their hard work and his continued pride in each chapter’s success and high level of commitment to the Fraternity’s “Call to Service,” he added, “As I travel across the fraternity, I am filled with pride to see the dedicated work of Brother in the Bond and the enthusiasm each shares about our focus on national service initiatives.”

The Grand Polemarch expressed his appreciation for each chapter’s “next level thinking” on various projects such as the “Sunday of Hope” Initiative, “Take A Child to a Ball Game” projects and the fraternity’s CARE /GLAD Financial Literacy Awareness program to name a few.

The Grand Polemarch also reiterated his desire to hear from as many Brothers as possible by announcing two additional Listening Tour stops: June 29, 2008 in Denver, CO and July 26, 2008 in Atlanta, GA. Brothers should contact the respective Province Polemarchs for additional details on these events. Since July of 2007 Grand Polemarch Murray has personally heard from hundreds of Brothers in more than 50 Chapters during his Listening Tour sessions.

As a highlight of the continued commitment to our National Service Campaign, Senior Grand Vice Polemarch, William Randy Bates, Jr., Esq.; Junior Grand Vice Polemarch, Michael J.A. Davis; Executive Director/COO Richard Lee Snow; St. Jude/Sunday of Hope National Chairman P. Jerry Siegel; National Chaplain, Dr. William A. Adkins, and South Central Province Polemarch Willie F. Brooks, Jr. will travel with the Grand Polemarch to Memphis to receive the “Outstanding Volunteer Organization of the Year Award” on June 20, 2008, presented by the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

In addition, the group will then travel to Piney Woods (MS) School to meet National Guide Right Committee Co-Chairmen, Larry McGhee, Jr. and Eugene D. Anderson, Jr. for the Annual Family Day Picnic on Saturday June 21, 2008 to celebrate one of the fraternity’s premier National Guide Right Programs, Kappa Kamp – now 13 years in operation. This year’s camp enrollment approaches 140 campers.  Executive Director/COO Richard Lee Snow will serve as the keynote speaker for the program.

In thanking the fraternity’s leadership for their efforts, Brother Murray stated “our work today serves as a testament that the Summer is not just a time of recess and relaxation but also a time to reinvigorate and re-energize our efforts to serve in the public interests.”
