Kamp Kappa - June 22-27, 2008, at the Hemlock Overlook in Clifton, VA
Kamp Kappa will conduct its annual summer camp on June 22-27, 2008, at the Hemlock Overlook in Clifton, VA. The camp is a week-long overnight camp for inner-city boys between 10-15 years old. This will be the 15th consecutive year the camp has been conducted. Students will be exposed to environmental education, seminars and one-on-one discussions about risk awareness, drug abuse, self-esteem, health awareness and etiquette.
The campers will participate in a youth-oriented “Street Law Seminar” which will culminate in a mock trial conducted in the actual courtrooms of the Fairfax County Courthouse (Fairfax, VA), and an “up-close-and-personal” tour of the Fairfax County Jail. The students will also enjoy canoeing, swimming, museum tours, and a variety of other activities. The students will also be treated one day with a trip to King’s Dominion amusement park.
The sponsorship cost for a child is $650. All donations are 100% tax deductible. For more information, please contact Mr. Monte Ingram (), or Mr. George Chavis ().
