Reminder: St. Jude Golf Tournament
Brothers,
Please be reminded of the St. Jude golf tournament coming up on Friday November 2, 2007 at the Gauntlet Golf Course in Fredericksburg. We need all chapters of the Eastern Province to support this event. We were able to lead the Fraternity in contributions of $10,000 to the St. Jude effort last year and I expect nothing less this year. I am asking each chapter to send a team to support this effort. If you can’t send a team, then at least buy a full page ad for the booklet. The committee is working very hard to make this year’s tournament a success. I would like to thank brothers Tommy Walker and Neil Hudgins for their efforts in this endeavor.
Brothers, lets do what we do!!!!!!!
Yours in the Bond,
John T. Lanier, Sr.

Message from our National Guide Right Commission Co-Chairman, Eugene D. Anderson, Jr.
Brothers All:
As we approach the 2007-2008 fraternal year, which officially starts October 1st I would like to take this opportunity to thank the 31st Grand Chapter Polemarch, Dwayne M. Murray, Esquire for appointing me as the National Guide Right Commission Co-Chairman. I will be sharing this honor and responsibility with Brother Larry C. McGhee, Jr. from the Baton Rouge Alumni Chapter; we will each have 6-Provinces which we will be responsible for. As your National Guide Right Commission Co-Chairman, I will work hard, stay committed and give back to the community with time, effort, and prayers. I will work closely with brothers throughout Kappa Land, the local Polemarch, the local Guide Right Chairman and brothers all in Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. My goal is to ensure that we create new challenges, maintain a high level of excellence, commitment, dedication, hard work and community involvement, with our Jr. Kappa League Programs, Kappa League Programs, “Kappa Kamp” St. Jude Hospital and the A-Man Program. In my opinion, I am confident that we can do more with Guide Right! I am confident that we can do more, because every Chapter throughout the 12 Provinces does not have an active Guide Right Program. I am confident that we will continue to exhibit the drive, determination, endurance, knowledge and commitment to carry out these goals and objectives as determined by utilizing our vast experiences with brothers all.
I am committed to making sure that all Chapters, large or small, Undergraduate or Alumni, will raise the “bar” on Guide Right. Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity, Inc. was founded on Guide Right principals and is Guide Right Motivated in serving our youth of today and making them “the men of tomorrow”. Once again, as I have expressed, every Chapter regardless of status will play an active role in instituting a “Guide Right Program”. Now would be an excellent opportunity as we begin the fraternal year for all chapters to begin executing on that implementation. All local Chapter Polemarch’s and Province Guide Right Chairman in the Province will be held accountable, so that is my charge. We as brothers boast about being the number one world superpower and about our economic and military power. But what does it say about our collective values that we are content to lag behind many other nations in caring for our children? Canada, Great Britain, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and the Scandinavian. These countries place a higher priority on lifting their children out of poverty and ensuring children’s basic human needs to health care, including prenatal care, than we do. We can and must do better Brothers!
Democracy, justice, freedom and safety begin at home. But our rich nation will not choose to stop child neglect or to prevent child poverty, sickness and ignorance unless we as Kappa Alpha Psi demand it.
Yours in the Bond,
Eugene D. Anderson, Jr.

FRATERNITY ANNOUNCES STRATEGIC ALLIANCE WITH AFRICAN-AMERICAN AUTOMOBILE DEALERS
(Philadelphia, PA) September 24, 2007 – As it continues to strengthen its relationship through corporate partnerships, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. has formed an alliance with the Daimler Chrysler Minority Dealers Association (DCMDA). DCMDA is comprised of over 100 minority dealers across the country who are not only experienced entrepreneurs, but all have a commitment to giving back to the community through programs and partnerships. DCMDA was a key sponsor of Kappa’s 78th Grand Chapter Meeting in Minneapolis this past summer.
DCMDA’s leadership is headed by a trio of accomplished Kappa Achievers including Jesse Greathouse, President (Beta Xi); Reggie Hubbard, President-Elect (Zeta Chi); and Jerry Dillard, 2nd Vice-President (Theta Theta), along with several other fraternity members. All of its dealers are prepared to work directly with Kappa to service its automobile needs.
According to Grand Polemarch, Dwayne M. Murray, Esquire, “Kappa must have strategic alliances in order to continue its growth. The relationship with DCMDA is an opportunity to support minority entrepreneurs, several who are Kappas, while providing an added membership benefit to our Brothers.”
Additional information regarding the alliance will be included in upcoming Journals and Confidential Bulletins. There will also be a direct link from the fraternity’s website to the DCMDA website. In the meantime, feel free to view the DCMDA website (http://www.DCMDA.org), which includes a savings coupon for the Kappa program.

St. Jude/Kappa Alpha Psi “Sunday of Hope”
Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc. has partnered with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to raise funds. Last year we raised $100,000 (over $10,000 from the Eastern Province) which represented the largest donation that Kappa has given to any charity. Due to our success and goals, Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc. has committed to raise $500,000 in five years. With this commitment, the St. Jude lobby of the Translational Trials Unit will bear the Kappa name.
Grand Polemarch Murray is leading the charge with his strong commitment to St. Jude, and is relying on us all to push its continued success. This year St. Jude has developed a program for Kappa called ‘’Sunday of Hope’’. This program is designed to be implemented in churches across the country. Please review the attached presentation, it provides a detailed TIMELINE in which I have highlighted some important dates below:
TIMELINE
September – November
- Each alumni chapter is asked to secure at least one church to participate in the Sunday of Hope program which takes place in January. The goal for each participating church is to raise at least $1,000.
- After a church agrees to host the Sunday of Hope, the designated Kappa Representative will assist the church official in completing the Sunday of Hope commitment form. I will be getting those forms out to the chapters once I received them from St. Jude.
- Please have all commitment forms completed and a copy sent to me by November 5th. Also have the church registered by November 20th.
December
- At the beginning of December, a kit will be shipped to the designated Kappa Representative.
- The Kappa Representative will be responsible for delivering the Sunday of Hope kit to the church. The Kappa Representative will also need to verify that all aspects of the program are in place for implementation.
January
- On the actual day, the Kappa Representative will be presenting the Sunday of Hope to the church congregation using the talking points provided by St. Jude. In addition (if facility capable), the Kappa Representative will show a St. Jude patient story video.
- The Kappa Representative along with the church minister will ask the families to give a “love offering” to St. Jude. A bookmark will be given to each family that donates to this worthy cause. During this time, the St. Jude gospel CD can be played.
March
- St. Jude will host a National check presentation ceremony at St. Jude for Kappa members and top church officials.
- The top 10 fundraising churches and their Kappa contact will be invited to attend the check presentation ceremony.
- St. Jude will send out a national post event press release to publicize Kappa’s commitment to the community.
Brothers, I can’t stress enough the importance and significance of our expansion of this partnership. For any questions, please don’t hesitate to send me an email or call.
